As Mike was on the road to recovery Bucks Fizz received yet another blow as jay Aston decided to depart the group in June of this year. Prior to this they had secured an advertising campaign with Sharp Electronics.
Auditions were held at the prince
of Wales Theatre in London where applicants who auditioned had to be no taller than
5'4", had to come with their own sheet music and be prepared to both sing and dance.
About 750 girls turned up and finally Shelley Preston was recruited to replace Jay. This
was just in time for the group to continue promoting the single 'You And Your Heart So
Blue' and to commence their next sell out tour in August/September.
